Stand Out Talent announces Roseville Animation Festival

Michele Jennae sits down with Jason Bortz, Media Director of Stand Out Talent in the old Tower Theatre in downtown Roseville, CA.

Stand Out Talent is the brainchild of Jennifer Bortz and was formed as a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides excellence in performance and training in live performance and media arts. They provide a venue for events like singer/songwriter, business events, film screenings, live theater, and even weddings.

Bortz is excited to share about their upcoming event, The first Roseville Animation Festival scheduled at the Tower Theatre on September 28, 29 and 30, 2012. From workshops for kids to family and adult programming, to after parties at Sammy Hagar’s brand new live music venue, Rockin’ Island Bar and Grill, right on Vernon Street in Downtown Roseville, there is something for everyone.

They will be screening the 2009 Oscar winning short film Peter and the Wolf that was done in claymation and stop motion photography as well as the 2012 Oscar nominated shorts. There will be a double header of Spike and Mike of Sick and Twisted fame. The first one, The New Generation, will be screened first for wider audience viewing as it is a bit milder, to be followed by Sick and Twisted, apparently not for the squeamish.

On Sunday, the Festival takes on decidedly more film festival overtones as they screen international short films as well as a panel discussion with independent artists Matt Baker and Robert Reimers.

More information can be found at www.rosevilleanimationfestival.com and http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/275796. Tickets are available for specific events as well as day passes and event passes, with and without the after-party entrance to Sammy Hagar’s Rockin’ Island Bar. Student rates are also available by calling for a discount code.

Stand Out Talent is currently preparing for their next live theater production Singing in the Rain. Auditions are currently open. They are also readying their annual fundraiser, a casino night on October 6, 2012.

They will continue to screen movies on weekends in between other scheduled events. The movies are generally selected via voting on their Facebook page. Recent screenings have included The Bridge on the River Kwai and Monty Python and The Holy Grail. Special Halloween and Christmas screenings are planned. More information can be obtained at www.standouttalent.org.

Thanks Michele! Also, the panel discussion on Saturday afternoon with several industry professionals who’ve worked in larger markets such as Marvel, DC, MTV on projects like Family Guy, The Simpsons, Alice in Wonderland, Star Wars video games and much more!
